Ze-VO Handling Requirements
Here are a few requirements when handling Ze-VO products and any wood siding or trim on a jobsite. There may be numerous other steps to take to ensure
a proper job. This is not meant to be a complete list. Call us if you have specific questions at 800-458-5775 during normal working hours Eastern Time, U.S. Outside of normal working hours, and on weekends, if you have a concern that cannot wait, please call Dennis Connelly at 508-320-4900.
All Ze-VO products require a field coat to ensure your final satisfaction.
-
The product must be kept dry—preferably in the garage or some
other permanent cover, prior to installation. Uninstalled product is not designed to resist the weather in the same manner that it will, when installed properly. The Lumber bag is not designed to keep the
product completely dry. The product must be stored above ground so
that air can circulate under it.
-
The product must be installed over a dry sheathing or substrate.
Moisture content should be 15% or below. If in doubt, use
moisture meter to check.
-
If the wood component of your product has knots, they might "bleed" or show through the coating.
If B.I.N shellac-based primer has been used to seal the knots, be sure to install with B.I.N side exposed
to the weather. Some boards have B.I.N on both sides. Ask your retailer to find out if the product you are using has this feature. Note: Usually some knots require additional
B.I.N primer before applying the top coat.
-
If you see "extractive bleeding," which can occur anywhere on the board (different than knot bleeding), refer to our helpful
hints Tell me more about
extractive bleeding on exterior wood siding.
-
Inspect the color and the exposed face. If you are not happy, call
us prior to installing the product as we are happy to fix the problem.
Once the product is installed we are no longer responsible for aesthetic
defects to the product.
