Environmental IMPACT

The lists below compare the emissions of Ze-VO with the two major alternative factory coating systems:

Typical Factory Priming

Factory coatings applicators must report many chemicals emitted during the normal course of operations. These are similar chemicals found in most household and commercial coatings. One advantage of factory finishing is that the substances are regulated and controlled yielding a known environmental impact versus field application where no such data is kept. The following is a list of chemicals that could be found in coatings. Stoddard Solvent is, by far, the most common.

LOSP Manufacturing

L.O.S.P. or Light Organic Solvent Preservative is used to treat lumber to help prevent rotting. In addition to the chemical list on the left that would have to be reported if applying coatings in the U.S., there are added chemicals used in the treating process. Other than extreme amounts of Stoddard Solvent emissions, the other chemicals stay in the wood unless the wood is sawn. There are additional chemicals found in LOSP that do not emit but are airborne if sawn, where they are harmful.

Ze-VO Emissions

Ze-VO Technologies, LLC has patented formulation and application technologies on our main primers and topcoats. Several years of research were conducted including attempts that involved the DEP of Massachusetts, UMass and other technical partners. In the end, it was our own research that joined what we knew about coatings combined with the understanding that it is critically linked with the application technology itself that bore the fruit of what is Ze-VO today.
